Broken Heart Broken Foot

January 23, 2017

We had gotten the call earlier that day, about a little boy needing a home. All his family was gone- either dead or in jail for life. At ten o’clock that night he arrived at Village of Hope.

Clinging to the leg of a man he had only met that morning, he cried not wanting any more change. He didn’t understand what was happening. He didn’t understand why he was here.

Slowly, as he began to feel at ease, we began to see the scars. Both internal and external. Both a broken heart, and a broken foot that had never been taken care of. They told us it’s too late. There’s nothing that can be done for his foot. It was ignored for too long. The pain will eventually go numb, but he will always walk with a limp.

We will work hard to make sure it’s not the same for his heart.
